More about Delaware Valley Tennis Academy

Delaware Valley Tennis Academy is a year-round program located along the Main Line west of Philadelphia. We are currently working with and have worked with many nationally, sectional and non-ranked juniors. DVTA has three programs designed for all levels: Elite “AT” (Advanced Training) is for tournament ranked players; “AT” is for future tournament players along with middle school and high school players; Junior Development Program “JDP” is for beginner to intermediate levels.

DVTA believes in strong technical direction accompanied with one-on-one practice, private lessons, match play and conditioning, weight training and tournament travel for students who qualify. Currently, we have use of 5-air-conditioned indoor courts and 12-outdoor hard court, an outdoor pool, a fitness center and other great facilities. We have had many years of success and look forward to future years of even greater accomplishments

History

Delaware Valley Tennis Academy was organized and formed as a by-product of the famous Nick Bollettieri Academy in Florida. The original owner was a Director of Tennis for Nick Bollettieri in the late ’70s and started DVTA in Wayne, Pennsylvania thereafter. Over the years, DVTA has worked with many nationally and sectional ranked juniors. Two DVTA students, David DiLucia and Michael Lang, were ranked in the top 5 nationally. Many had advanced to respectable Division I and Division III colleges such as: University of Notre Dame, Duke University, University of Georgia, University of North Carolina-Charlotte, University of Richmond, Franklin and Marshall, Penn State University, Haverford College, Kenyon College and Trinity College, to name a few. Some obtained scholarships to Division I schools, and David DiLucia was victorious in his pursuit of the Men’s NCAA singles title in 1992 and eventually turned professional after graduating. Michael Lang was ranked #1 in the US while in Boys 14s and 16s. His team at University of Georgia won the NCAA’s in 2001. Michael transferred to University of Miami where he played the #1 singles position for 2 years.

We hope you’ll find the Academy motivating and interesting, but we’re not going to misguide you and tell you DVTA is a country club. Our facilities are attractive, our staff is experienced and personable and the on and off-court programs are great fun, but we are serious in making sure all of our participants are challenged both physically and mentally.
