My dad got me hooked on tennis and for nearly a year now, we've been playing once a week. My first day, I couldnt even keep the ball in the court. I found myself pulling a McEnroe everytime a "baby-tap" sent the ball sailing. Now, I can successfully volley against my dad, a former high school varsity player with nearly thirty years of experience and a regional champ as his late father. My dad would always ask me after playing if I was ready to give up tennis. "No! I'll get it! I know I will!" I now find myself smiling and laughing as I jump and slam the ball down and execute precise dropshots. I hope to one day play as well as Andy Roddick, a hero in my eyes. If he ever reads this, I'd like him to know that in this life or the next, I'll meet him on the court. Maybe even doubles with my dad... My Goals I hope to train intensively for the next 9 months and then play against local varsity players and even enter tournaments.
