About Me:
Let me introduce myself, I am Sunil Patel, I am 39 years old and an active member of the United States Tennis Association(USTA). I am presently ranked the #1 Wheelchair Tennis Player in the country in the Quad A Division. I have been involved in wheelchair tennis since 2001.This past year I participated in 6 tournaments. I placed first in the Music City Championship held in Nashville, TN and the Doris Denker Championship held in Denver, CO in both the singles and doubles categories. In the Atlanta Championship, I placed second in the singles division. I also participated in the PTR/ROHO Championship held in Hilton Head, SC where I placed first in the doubles competition and second in the singles division. The last two tournaments that I played in were the Sunshine Open held in Pembroke Pines, FL and the Mosquito Open held in Lake Worth, FL where I finished second overall in singles and first in the doubles competitions. My overall record for the 2004 season is 12-4 in singles competition and undefeated in doubles competition. I was nominated for the Wheelchair Player of the Year in the State of Florida and also received honorable mention for the sportsmanship award at the Atlanta Championship. The USTA, has sanctioned wheelchair tournaments all around the country from Pensacola, Fl to the U.S. Open in San Diego, Ca. In order for me to attain my goals for 2005 and keep this impressive ranking of #1 in the country, I need your financial support. The money you donate would enable me to pay my expenses for travel, lodging and entry fees for possibly seven or more tournaments for the upcoming season. As part of my thanks and appreciation for your support, I will place your emblem or name on my Tennis wheelchair to show that you have helped a worthy athlete accomplish his vision in the face of adversity and to remain number one in the country. All of your support will be much appreciated and is tax deductible.

As part of my commitment to wheelchair sports and proving that only you place a limit on what you can accomplish in life, I am actively involved in the Florida Disabled Outdoors Association, a non-profit 501 (c)(3) organization that is working to ensure people with disabilities have those opportunities. FDOA has assisted in compliance of the Americans with Disabilities Act and worked closely with many state, local and private organizations to develop, enhance and/or support recreation opportunities for the disabled across Florida. In 2004 they were one of my major sponsors. As Tallahassee’s only ambassador for Wheelchair Tennis I am asking for your support.

If you have any questions, or need more information please feel free to contact David Jones, President of the FDOA. He can be reached by phone at 850.668.7323, fax 850.668.0650 or email davidjones@fdoa.org or you may contact me at 850.877.5311 or email me at Sunil4fsu@aol.com. Mail all contributions to the: FDOA 2213 Tallahassee Drive Tallahassee, FL 32309. Attached is a list of tournaments that I will hopefully be able to attend. Help me make 2005 a championship year once again!

My Goals
Below is an excerpt from an article posted in the Tallahassee Democrat on “Sunil Patel defies odds with tennis success” written by St. Clair Murraine, that appeared on Tue, Jun. 29, 2004. Boy, how he must have shaken things up when he talked about how his recent tennis victory made him the 10th-best player in the world among players rated by International Tennis Association and USTA. All of that was too far-fetched to imagine back when he was a teenager growing up in Pensacola. But now he's one of the best players in North Florida to ever take a shot from the seat of a wheelchair. He was born without legs from his knees down and has used a wheelchair all his life. They probably didn't know about his tenacity. He's made it this far on pure will, although he played in just one major tennis tournament last year. He didn't get past the first round, but he wouldn't be denied this time. Patel captured the Nashville Indoor Championship. Along the way, he knocked off two seeded players and

My Highlights
My important wins was winning my first tournament last year in Nashville, than accomplishing my goal of finishing #1 in country in Quad A wheelchair division in United States. I also won alot of doubles titles last year and went to a new division this year.
