Category: Masters Series Tournaments Defending champion Roger Federer marked the 30th anniversary of the Pacific Life Open with a celebration of his own... a celebration of tennis excellence. The World No. 1 won his 17th consecutive final with a 6-2, 6-4, 6-4 defeat of World No. 2 Lleyton Hewitt in the final. Federer clinched his fourth title of the season and improved to a personal-best 26-1 start to the season with his seventh consecutive defeat of Hewitt. Federer is 42-1 since the 2004 Olympics and has won seven of the eight tournaments he has contested during that period. On Saturday, Kim Clijsters withstood an early barrage of winners from Lindsay Davenport to win her second Pacific Life Open title. 2003 champion Clijsters dropped the first four games of the match but rallied to win the first set and ultimately the match 6-4, 4-6, 6-2.
